14th Annual Dorothy Dupont Memorial Re-Cap

Kearny Mesa Major Division Storm
Final DDM Brackets:  2023 DDM Brackets (.pdf)

The 14th Annual Dorothy Dupont Memorial Tournament is officially in the books.  We had a unique three days of baseball, with each team playing three games. The rain definitely played a part in the uniqueness. This tournament would not have happened without the help of many District 33 volunteers. A special thanks goes out to our host leagues volunteers, Sam Shelhamer, Tori Stark and their volunteers from Murphy Canyon Little League. Austin Hill and his volunteers from La Mesa National Little League and Andrea Ochoa and her volunteers from Serra Mesa Little League, who jumped in to help us out of a rainy jam by offering their fields to host a game on Friday night, so the tournament could stay on schedule. The games could not go on without the umpires on the field. Thank you, John Perretta, District UIC and his talented staff for making sure the games were covered. Last but not least, the District 33 staff who was available to me, whenever I needed help.

Congratulations to the Kearny Mesa Storm on winning the tournament!! The Championship Game was a drizzly way to wrap up the weekend.  The Storm went on to beat the Mission Trails White Sox 7-0.

These tournaments that the District coordinates are not just for the players to get ready for the postseason, it also helps the managers and coaches know what to expect, what rules and guidelines to follow.  The tournaments also help prepare the scorekeepers, in showing the importance of making sure every change is documented in the scorebook.  These tournaments would not be possible without the all around support from everyone, for that we say thank you.
